How to clean the tops of Skis

This chair has been sitting in my outdoor showroom (my patio) for about 6 months. It has endured snow, rain, hail and countless hours in the sun. The skis top-sheet started becoming oxidized, similar to an old car, showing water drops and appearing to fade.. I searched everywhere on-line for a solution but all you get is how to clean and wax the bottoms…for obvious reasons. So I decided to experiment myself and found that using a little rubbing compound then some simple car spray-on wipe-off wax brings them back to looking like new. This is the first time I have had this problem….it really depends on the type of ski and the material/finish they used for the top-sheet. The K2 FOURr’s did not have a glossy type finish when new. I would be hesitant to apply this method to skis or snowboards with a shiny/glossy finish (test in a small area first..as they say). But if we’re talking old skis on a ski chair…its a worth a shot.
