When I first started building chairs i would sometimes face the bottom side up as a lot of time the colors and the logos on the bottom of the skis are just to cool to pass up. This is probably Phase 2ish of my chair building designs as you can see the wooden legs…as opposed to the legs being made of skis in my current work. Anyway, I would take the time to get all the wax off and take put in extra time on the grinder to get the edges really dulled up. I would then coat the edges of the skis with some silicone so they would not rust. In time though , sitting out in the weather the silicone would wear off and I would start to get rust spots. Who wants rust on their clothes? And all though all skis get hot sitting out in the sun…those metal edges would really heat up. I only build down side up on special request…or for my own patio.
